Trails:
Alfred Hole
This classic intermediate 7K trail is located at the Alfred Hole Goose Sanctuary. It has a warm-up shack and outhouse about half way, with a lovely view over Jean Lake. The scenery and variety of terrain are awesome — up rocky hills and down into marshy areas, with many evergreen trees.
Inverness Falls
8K of classic intermediate loops with a warm-up shelter at the far end.
Jessica Lake
There are also two classic novice loops (“A” — 3.4K, “C” — 1.8K) from the Jessica Lake trailhead.
Otter Falls
This well-forested classic trail is a 3K loop that links to a 7K loop. It has a couple of intermediate hills on the return from a well equipped warm-up cabin that is shared with snowmobilers.
Pine Point Rapids
This is a scenic 6.5K intermediate classic trail located between Betula Lake and Nutimik Lake. It has a couple of intermediate hills on the way to a nice warm-up cabin at the open water of the Whiteshell River. There is also an optional short hike up to a peak that overlooks the area.
Foresters Footsteps
It’s listed as a 4.2K snowshoeing and walking trail on the Winter Adventures brochure, but it was tracked for classic skiing in 2017-2018 and 2018-2019.
South Whiteshell Trail (West Hawk Lake townsite to Falcon Lake townsite and Falcon Lake Causeway to Falcon Ridge)
This is part of the Trans Canada Trail — over 40K of classic trails. It links West Hawk Lake townsite to the Rec Centre in Falcon Lake townsite via Faloma, as well as the Falcon Lake Causeway to Falcon Trails (Falcon Ridge Ski Area), with many trail branch options. It is single track classic skiing, and has a little of everything – gently rolling cruising sections, twisty dense forest sections, lake crossings, demanding uphills, and technical downhills. A map is posted at every trail junction. Parts of the section between Falcon Lake and Faloma is close to the Trans Canada Highway in places, so it is somewhat open and noisy, and there is one place where the trail crosses a road while you are descending a hill.

South Whiteshell Loop
A 4.5 km novice loop, starting in West Hawk townsite, following the South Whiteshell Trans Canada Trail parallel to PR301, then heading east just north of the Trans Canada Highway back to West Hawk. It is single track classic skiing, with gently rolling cruising sections and twisty dense forest sections.

McHugh Lake and West Hawk Loops
These trails begin as a single in West Hawk townsite, heading south along PTH44, through the Trans Canada Highway underpass, where the McHugh and West Hawk Loops begin. At this point, the trail splits. One can ski south on the 9.0 km intermediate McHugh Loop over McHugh Lake then heading west to meet with the South Whiteshell Trail, or travel west on the West Hawk Loop to the South Whiteshell Trail. The West Hawk Loop then follows the South Whiteshell Trail north and splits east to West Hawk for a 6.5 km intermediate loop. It is single track classic skiing, with gently rolling cruising sections, twisty dense forest sections, a lake crossing, demanding uphills, and technical downhills. Caution is advised beneath the underpasses, as there is vehicular traffic.
