Karin entered the CCSAM community in 2001 when she was hired as General Manager of the Windsor Park Nordic Centre in Winnipeg. In April 2003, after 2 seasons at Windsor Park, she was hired as the Association’s Executive Director.

In her previous life Karin worked with horses — employed for many years as a trail guide, groom, AI technician, stallion handler, colt starter, exercise rider, and race horse trainer.

Four legs were replaced by 2 wheels and a pair of skis when Karin returned to Winnipeg to complete a Philosophy degree at the University of Winnipeg and started racing locally on the mountain bike and cross country ski circuit.

In 1999, Brent Bottomley invited Karin to join his premiere women’s ski team Prairie Storm, and thus began a 6 year ski racing career concentrating on marathon distances and events like the Pepsi Challenge, American Birkebeiner, Keskinada (now Gatineau) Loppet and the 2002 World Masters Championships in Valcartier Quebec.

Karin is married to James, and their son is looking forward to his 1st year of Jackrabbits in 2011-2012.
