Volunteers required for Snow Trek 2011

News January 9, 2011

We are looking for volunteers to help out with the 2nd Annual Snow Trek Winter in Motion; an event to promote winter physical activities, specifically cross country skiing and snow shoeing.

Volunteers are asked to identify which date(s), shift(s), and volunteer roles that they are interested in (see the list below). At the Windsor Park Nordic Centre we’d like to have some French-speaking volunteers, so please identify if you speak French.

Volunteers do not need any special skills or knowledge. We are looking for people that are outgoing and interested in promoting physical activity to Winnipeggers … and hardy in case it’s cold :). There will be lead committee members at each site that the volunteers would report to.

We are looking for volunteers for three different Sundays, each at a different location:

  • Sunday, January 16, 2011 — Assiniboine Park Duck Pond
  • Sunday, January 23rd, 2011 — Windsor Park Nordic Centre
  • Sunday, February 13th, 2011 — Living Prairie Museum

Volunteer shifts:

  • Shift #1: 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM
  • Shift #2: 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM

Volunteer roles:

  • Greeters
  • Equipment ID Waiver Crew / Registration Table
  • Equipment Crew — Cross country ski
  • Equipment Crew — Snowshoe
  • Fire Tender Crew
  • Hot Chocolate / Tea Crew
  • Cross country ski instructor Assistant Crew
  • Active play station
