Grand Beach Provincial Park
Grand Beach Provincial Park has 18K of trails that are groomed for both classic skiing and skate skiing.
As of 2020, 6K of the trails are now shared use with fatbiking, snowshoeing, and walking. Trails Map
Snowshoeing and fatbiking with appropriately low tire pressure have minimal negative impact on a skate ski track. However, walking on a skate ski track will damage it if walkers aren’t single file on the edge that is opposite from the classic track, which they often are not.
Park management looked into obtaining new ski trail grooming equipment in 2023. They purchased a “tractor” to use in the summer for many purposes, and to use in the winter for pulling new grooming implements. In 2024 they tried to purchase the grooming implements, but couldn’t obtain budget funding for it. So for 2024-2025, staff are working with the old (1980s) grooming equipment.
Reports of missing signage are welcome from skiers and the public, so the park can try to stay ahead of this issue.
