Coaching Workshop – Learning to Train Dryland
October 19 - October 20
Competition Coaching Introduction – Learning to Train (CCI-L2T) Dryland
Coaches are taught about developmental age, physical literacy, team building, athletic components (aerobic fitness, speed, etc.), nutrition, how to design their own sport program, adventure-based activities (year-round), roller-skiing and planning a practice.
Prerequisite: Community Coaching Introduction (ICC) + Coach Initiation in Sport – Online modules in The Locker the thelocker.coach.ca
This workshop provides tools and develops skills that a coach can use to: (1) create a “fun”, team-oriented environment that will motivate skiers to achieve their personal goals in sport, develop a life-long interest in the fitness and health benefits of cross-country skiing, and (2) effectively teach intermediate and then advanced technique.
The course fee is heavily subsidized by Sport Manitoba Coaching in an effort to increase the population of qualified cross-country ski coaches while keeping the cost of coaching development affordable for our members.
N.B. Completion of this workshop is the minimum mandatory qualification for anyone supervising, instructing or coaching ski activities for children 9 – 16 years of age. All CCSAM clubs must have at least one Competition Coach overseeing their Skill Development program in order to remain compliant with the club’s liability insurance policy.
