Renewal of the Canadian Sport Policy

News June 7, 2011

We wish to thank the representatives of the 23 Provincial Sport Organizations who attended the Renewal of the Canadian Sport Policy focus group session. We very much appreciate and value your feedback and input into Manitoba’s perspective which will be woven into the framework that will help to guide the growth and development of sport over the next ten years or so. As noted a number of the times sport is just one of many vital “cogs in the wheel” that contribute to the health and well being of Manitobans as well as to overall quality of life in our country, province and communities.

We wish to remind all of you that your organization, as well as your individual members, still have an opportunity to provide input into the renewal of the Canadian Sport Policy through your/their access to an on line survey at http://app.fluidsurveys.com/surveys/sirc/csp-renewal-2011/?l=eng. To date over 50% of the organizations and 20% of individuals that have completed the survey have come from Manitoba.

In mid-June we will summarize the discussions from our four focus group sessions, as well as the input received from Manitoba’s section within the on line survey, into a Manitoba perspective document which will integrated with other national and provincial perspectives to serve as the basis for discussions at a National Forum in November, 2011. This Forum will provide the basis for the Canadian Sport Policy and 2012-16 Action Plan to be tabled with the Federal-/Provincial/Territorial Ministers responsible for Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation for their approval in early 2012.
