Another Distance Challenge is going into the record books. Thank you to all our volunteers who made sure that everything ran smoothly. Thank you for all the food donations that kept our skiers going on a chilly day. And finally thanks to all the skiers who came out, especially to those who travelled out from Winnipeg and elsewhere where the morning windchill was a bone rattling -35. You all made windy cold day into a warm and fun event.

Here are a few tidbits from the records that will be posted soon:

  • 141 skiers registered and skied in the event – they ranged from 2 years old to 64,
  • Total distance skied – 3533 kilometres,
  • 3 skiers broke the 100km barrier, 25 skied over 50km each and another 22 topped 25km,
  • Adult male skiers were outnumbered by the women (but not by much),
  • Many skiers skied their age in kilometers and a few topped out at more than 5 times their age.

Congratulations to all and hope to see you next year for the 10th annual Distance Challenge.
