Sport Manitoba is seeking enthusiastic, experienced individuals to serve as a volunteer with Team Manitoba for the 2015 Canada Winter Games and 2015 Western Canada Summer Games. As a member of the Mission Staff you will work with a core team of professionals responsible for supporting the participation of Manitoba athletes, coaches and managers in one or both of Canada’s premier multi-sport events.

The 2015 Canada Winter Games will be held February 13 to March 1, 2015 in Prince George BC. The Canada Games is a national multi-sport competition featuring top developmental athletes from every province and territory in Canada. www.canadagames2015.ca

The 2015 Western Canada Summer Games will be held August 7 to 15, 2015 in Wood Buffalo AB. The Western Canada Summer Games feature the top developmental athletes from the four Western provinces and three territories. www.2015woodbuffalo.com

As part of the mission team you will help to ensure all aspects of Team Manitoba’s preparations are in place for a successful and winning team. Tasks include coordinating a variety of athlete services such as registration, transportation, uniform distribution, media relations and mandatory non-sport training. You will work with highly skilled, professional staff support from Sport Manitoba. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in Manitoba’s sport development system.

Positions are available for approximately 10 to 15 mission staff for each set of games. Mission staff must be prepared to attend the Games for their entire duration.

Ideal candidates will have extensive and varied experience in sport and as a volunteer and be prepared to demonstrate a strong commitment to the event(s). Ability to communicate in both official languages is an asset.

We are seeking individuals who have:

  • strong communication, customer service and administration skills;
  • a knowledge of Manitoba’s amateur sport system;
  • an interest in and enthusiasm for working in a fast paced multi-sport environment;
  • the ability to operate independently and in a team atmosphere;
  •  he ability to perform functions and duties outside of your assignment;
  • strong interpersonal skills and an ability to provide excellent service to your assigned sport(s).

Although previous games experiences is an asset, Mission Staff selection will be gender and age balanced with experienced and developing games volunteers.
