									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Monday 4:00, started at the Stables, two places a ski removal was required early then clear sailing out on Lime kiln, to the duck through the bush trail to Esker, good to tower.  West Bluestem from tower to Chickadee was good, with only a couple times that a lane change was required. Chickadee to stables was poor, lots of avoiding dirt.<br />

I imagine that the mornings after night frost would be very icy. Amazing that one could still go on Good Friday!</p>

Instead I had a rather bad break with helpers standing by lend assistance. They helped me get to the car and I&#8217;ve since had successful surgery and been released. Good conditions. The ~5 cm of new snow is skied into the right track. In a few places it was very moist.<br />
The Group Use Road has too much loose snow on it to be skiable. It needs to be groomed, or you can wait for a few days of melt and freeze for it to settle.</p>

Mine was fantastic for skate skiing a few days ago and again on Sunday morning. At below freezing temps it was beautiful crust, ranging in depth from a few mm to many cm. When melting, it is transformed slush that a well prepared ski base glides over nicely. I can ski a loop up to 1.1 km. I started on classic skis at -3° and cloudy. Trails were &#8220;soft icy&#8221;, not &#8220;ice&#8221;, and very fast. 15 minutes after the sun came out and the temp rose a couple degrees, un-shaded tracks became softer and tracks slowed down somewhat.<br />

I arrived at the Stables lot around noon to take advantage of the heat of the day. Skied Esk, Chick  loop, Esk again to the forest path to the Kiln loop and back to the Stables lot.<br />

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We groomed the trails at Assiniboine Park on Sunday and they are still in good condition and we will be grooming again tomorrow as soon as forecasted snow blows over. The Zoogipon sk/skate/sled shack will have limited hours only on Saturdays as the skating pond is now closed, but the trails will be groomed until the end of season. </p>

I don&#8217;t know if they will be able to groom the ski trails, as the base is rock solid and would take a huge effort to groom. Absolutely worth going out there for a ski even if they cannot groom!</p>

But, as we have all noticed, the foot traffic on the trails is increasing, and will only get worse as the weather improves and the skiing gets very enjoyable.<br />

I arrived at the Stables lot Mar 2 noon, and skied Asp and Chick. Tracks well defined with some blown in spots and  debris from the big wind late last week. The good news on the debris is that it in being skied in and only marginally affects glide.<br />
