There’s been A LOT of snow folks! And cold! Remember that the trails are not machine groomed so if you get there and the trails are under snow it’s that kind of ski!

Erika MacPherson changed the description of the group Whitemouth River from "This hidden gem of mostly beginner friendly terrain has 8.5 km of classic ski trail loops through pine and aspen forest, bog, meadow, a bit of clear-cut and along the Whitemouth River. The ice storm in 2007 ravaged a stretch of forest on the Pine/Yellow route from the trailhead. There are plenty of intersecting ATV, logging and Forestry Association Sandilands Discovery Centre trails for snowshoeing, hiking, biking and exploring. Please do not walk or snowshoe on the ski tracks. Winter 2020: These trails were established in 1986 but have not been maintained for many years. Sections on all routes have twiggy stretches and ATV rutting. Trails are for classic skiing, are rustic and are ski set only. If you’re the first one out after a snow or hiker-trample you’ll be the groomer! There are trail markers and maps at all junctions, the signage is old and being updated. Directions: Approx. 75 mins. east of Winnipeg. Trailhead is 3 KM south of the TransCanada Hwy on the 68B (south extension of the #11 - which is signed for Hadashville). * The trail head is 0.9 KM further on the 68B PAST the Manitoba Forestry Sandilands Discovery Centre sign NOT through the Discovery Centre gate. The road is NOT ploughed past the Discovery Centre sign and that last 0.9KM is a groomed Snoman trail so good manners to the Snoman club would be to not drive on their trail, but it is a road. So you decide if it's best to park at the DC gate and ski the 0.9KM along the side of the road or to drive to the trailhead and park there. Such an adventure just to get to the trailhead!
