I went for a ski yesterday. There trails are covered with sknow. However, it seems that they went through with a wide wheel vehicle. Perhaps the goal was to pack down the snow to get it ready to make trails in the future?
At any rate, the sky was difficult as these wheel tracks were all over the place and it was hard to ski. I guess we will…Read more

Friday morning I dusted off the rock skis and enjoyed the season’s first ski on Chickadee, west Aspen, and the Esker hill. There’s mostly just one uneven, sloppy classic track. I found the best skiing on the packed hiker’s tracks on Chickadee. No skate ski tracks on Group Use or Spruce yet, with about 2″ of loose snow. Beautiful day!

-11C and light snow. Classic ski on Chickadee and West Bluestem. Chickadee is much like I stated a couple of days ago. No tracks, but good double poling on the walker tracks. West Bluestem had remnants only of 1 skier track that had been snowed in. There were newer walker tracks that I sailed down for awhile, and the skiing was again quite…Read more

Your local storm water retention pond

Sunday afternoon. -9°, 10 KPH wind, lightly snowing.

Temperatures have been well below freezing for 10 days, and 5+ cm of snow has fallen, so I decided to check out my local storm water retention pond.

The ice is solid for body weight (there were even footsteps across the pond), especially with the…Read more

-14C classic ski on Chickadee only. Walker packed snow made for some fun double poling. No tracks yet. Only firm snow. I thought the snow was pretty fast actually! Stay away from the hill. The rocks will kill your skis. I managed to do chickadee from the start of the trailhead, and went left at the north section of the GUR and did the rest…Read more
