Skied the Birchkin Pumpski this morning. A bit blown in in spots, but a very good ski overall. It’s not perfect, but if you’re thinking of skiing this route on the last day, it’s worthwhile. And awesome.

Curious: did you, or would you consider, advocating for more skate skiing options at Bird’s Hill Park? For example, converting a trail like Bluestem into a shared skate and classic trail, much like Falcon, Teulon, Camp Morton (west side), etc?

Saw 12 walkers in that time. Called Park Patrol who were responsive and came to GUR parking lot after my call. They were not there when we started our ski.

The road is pretty beat up from today’s activity, primarily the round divots from the kick sledders. Still a pretty good ski though.

Was pleased to see Park staff at the GUR parking lot as well. The same large “no hiking” signage that’s at the Chickadee and stables parking lots is now also at the GUR parking lot trailhead. Grateful for the effort the park is putting in in terms of education and enforcement.

Call me a heretic, but I actually think one of the classic trails should be converted to a walking trail. There’s clearly sufficient demand, particularly this year when people are justifiably craving the outdoors.
